Is Ravi Zacharias in Hell?

“Christians do not judge the world. Christians must judge those who SAY they live for Christ. Wolves will not spare the flock where pretenders go unchallenged/unjudged.” Robert Lorne

RZIM or Ravi Zacharias is clear proof that all a man has to do is speak eloquently, to be confident in what he’s saying, and gullible dupes who refuse to read and heed God’s Word for themselves will flock to and support that “ministry.” More on that in a moment.

Though we sure hope it isn’t the case, Ravi Zacharias apparently died in sin. There is no evidence he repented and definite evidence that he was not forthright, not honest about the sin he was involved in for years and at the time of his death. Every unrepentant adulterer, fornicator, will spend eternity in the lake of fire (Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8, etc.).

Yes God is the Judge and yet we know that the Judge has spoken – and if you have a Bible you should observe what He has stated on this matter. Here’s a passage we should become very familiar with:

“Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. 13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.” Ezekiel 33:12-13

As seen above and in the 2 thieves on the crosses flanking our LORD in His crucifixion, God judges men in the state they die in.

“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.” Revelation 22:11

Do we begin to see why Jesus and His apostles spoke so often about being always “ready”?

“Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” Luke 12:40

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21:34-36

Many who are “reformed” or believe in eternal security will gasp at the possibility of Ravi Zacharias being in hell. They believe in the heresy of “perseverance of the saints” also known as OSAS (once saved always saved), otherwise known as “eternal security.” This evil falsehood robs the fear of God from the heart and leads people who get saved to not be vigilant and diligent in serving the LORD and they “fall away” which Jesus and His apostles foretold would happen (Luke 8:13; 1 Timothy 4:1-2, etc.).

“They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation FALL AWAY.” Luke 8:13

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall DEPART FROM THE FAITH, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” 1 Timothy 4:1

With all the professed Christian leaders teaching this eternal security heresy, should we be surprised at how many are falling? This teaching is designed by Satan for just such an outcome (Genesis 2:17; 3:4). And since so many don’t want to lay down their lives, deny self, and truly follow Jesus in this fleeting world, they receive and believe this lie (2 Timothy 4:2-4).

Typically, as was the case when Satan initially gave this eternal security teaching to the first man and woman, the fear of God vanquished from their hearts. And, so they were emboldened to sin against God because they no longer feared Him, believing they could sin against Him with no consequence. Yet the consequence was that they died, they were then spiritually separated from the LORD who is holy (Genesis 3).

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.” Jude 3-5

V 3-5 Summation: The true body of Christ is to “earnestly contend” against this lie of “lasciviousness”, knowing that some who were once “saved” out of “Egypt” (sin) will “afterward” be “destroyed.”

“Awake to righteousness, and sin not.” 1 Corinthians 15:34

There’s no doubt that when there’s temptation, there’s also a choice. When a man sins it is a choice and it is 100% his own choice and fault (Ecclesiastes 7:20; James 1:13-15). No man is forced to sin. There’s also no doubt that those who attempt to hide or cover that sin – to justify it – will perish.

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

We must be honest and confess all sin. God sees it anyway so I just can’t understand why we think we could hide anything from Him (Proverbs 15:3; Jeremiah 23:24).

Regrettably, there is no indication that Ravi Zacharias got honest and repented.

ANY person who dies in sin, without repenting, is going to hell for eternity and it’s going to be worse for those who were previously saved.

“For if AFTER they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are AGAIN entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have KNOWN the way of righteousness, than, AFTER they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.” 2 Peter 2:20-21

The wages of sin is still “death” which is separation from God (Romans 6:23).

“the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4

Read the following passage carefully. The LORD will separate from Himself, now and eternally, any person He’s preciously saved who then goes back to sin and doesn’t repent.

Satan, the “god of this world” who is “prince of the power of the air”, is the one who makes these frauds popular in order to mislead the masses (2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:1-3). Nearly all extremely popular ministries are peddling Satan’s first and perpetual lie which is today packaged in calvinism/reformed theology and the name of “eternal security.” Do we really think that’s an accident?

Jesus taught His own 12 that only those who “endure to the end” are going to be saved. Throughout Scripture, God’s Word teaches initial and final salvation (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; Acts 14:23; Romans 11:20-22; Colossians 1:23; Hebrews 3:6, 12-14; 10:26-39; Revelation 2-3, etc.).

Trust no man. Trust God. Read His Word for yourself – daily! (2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17) God gave us His Word, the King James Bible (for the English speaking peoples), to establish us in His truth and keep us protected from being deceived (Proverbs 30:5; Acts 20:20-32, etc.).

TODAY in giving an answer to an eternal security person, the following response was given:
“You are lying against the LORD while claiming to represent Him. There is no Scripture that supports an un-conditional eternal security. You’ve allowed yourself to be misled by your own refusal to “Study to shew THYSELF approved unto God.” (1 Timothy 2:15) So, you use mere sin-justifying human reasoning instead of learning God’s Word for yourself and believing and obeying Him. No one here except you mentioned saving ourselves. Only Jesus can save us and yet JESUS gave conditions – initial and ongoing. The Word teaches initial and final salvation. After being saved, one must “endure to the end” in faith or perish. And, saving faith always produced a holy life (Matthew 3:7-10; Titus 2:11-14, etc.).
“And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God (Word of God), that ye may keep your own tradition.” Mark 7:6-9
The Holy Spirit dwells in every true believer but that in no way guarantees or forces that individual to “abide”, that is, remain, continue in Christ to the end of His life on earth. And Jesus says to His own that we must “endure to the end” to be “saved”, to “abide” and if we don’t we shall be cast into the fire (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; John 15:6, etc.). God’s Word teaches both initial salvation and final salvation. Most of the evangelical world has been deceived into limiting salvation to that initial born again experience. “If we deny him he also WILL deny us.” (2 Timothy 2:12).
Undeniably, un-conditional eternal security is the first lie Satan told to mankind which caused his fall – and he’s still telling the same lie (Gen 2:17; 3:4). Jesus taught “If a man abide (remain) not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:6). See also Ezekiel 33:12-13 and Matthew 10:22; 24:13; 2 Peter 2:20-21; Hebrews 10:26-39, etc.).”

Also…

Today, many ministries are formed and extremely popular which endlessly dialogue with people, lost people (such as so-called “atheists”) in order to somehow convince them to become a Christian, as if they can be talked into regeneration by a mere man. Ravi Zacharias is one example of how a man can endlessly philosophy about the existence of God without ever using Scripture – which is the only way people will be convicted and saved into Christ’s kingdom (Psalms 19:7). Yet millions of professing Christians patronized, supported, and heralded this man who never used Scripture. Millions of professing Christians today follow these types of Bible-less, Scripture-less “ministries.”

Now we are seeing the employees of RZIM coming out and saying things like “What We Can Learn From the Ravi Zacharias Scandal.” Ridiculous. Sounds like these employees for RZIM are simply trying to preserve their jobs which is no basis for a ministry, especially not one cursed at the root. What we CAN learn??? OR, what we should have known and learned since we’ve all had the Bible available to us from birth. This “what we can learn” bit is a worn out cover-up excuse which seems to be used by some to get past all the heat and yet seems also to reveal that this is really not being dealt with at the root. How is RZIM even salvageable? It was founded and perpetrated on lies and sin. Ravi Zacharias seldom if ever even used the Bible. THAT’s not a ministry for Christ at all. And, all he did was seek to convince people that there was a God. Jesus and His prophets and apostles never did such. ALL men know they are a God and the LORD sends His people forth to “preach the word” which alone can lead to salvation (1 Peter 1:23, etc.). “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” (Psalms 19:7) Also, faith does not come by mere human philosophy or science but rather “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17) It’s not our job or calling to convince people there is a God but rather to obey God by simply preaching His Word to them so that HE convicts and draws them to Himself to be saved. Clearly, to prop of this “ministry” would be to perpetrate a fraud, which was established on a cursed foundation (Matthew 7:19-29).

Evangelism today, in the apostate modern church, has been reduced to simply attempting to prove something people already know – that God exists (Romans 1:19-20). Whole multi-million dollar ministries like Ravi Zacharias’ were funded on this premise with very little Scripture ever mentioned and no Gospel preaching. (God’s people should support the teaching and preaching of His Word and equipping of His saints for the work of the ministry John 21:15-17; Ephesians 4:11-14; 2 Timothy 4:2, etc.).

Recently on Christian radio, a lady talked about helping people to “come closer and closer to Jesus.” This is clear proof of catholic, ecumenical influence. The idea that a sinner can “come closer and closer to Jesus” is the antichrist works-based, earn-your-own-way heresy of spiritual evolution where people are gradually saved or evolve into salvation. Not. Totally false.

2,000 years ago on that cross, Jesus said “It is finished” which means paid in full (John 19:30). So we know that when the individual sinner is saved, it is immediate. Righteousness is instantly imputed. Salvation, justification, passing from death unto life is immediate upon being born again – and that happens as the Word of God is taught and preached and not when people are led to believe they are evolving into becoming a Christian. Going to MacDonald’s (poison) every day for years won’t make anyone a hamburger and going to church for years won’t make anyone a Christian. A sinner is a sinner, separated from God, until he repents and believes at which point, and no point before, he is now saved.

Salvation is imputed, transferred from Christ’s account to the recipient, otherwise it must be earned by us, which is impossible (Isaiah 64:6). Read Romans 4.

Imputation is the transaction of divine righteousness by God’s sheer mercy to the account of the now repentant, believing sinner whom Jesus is saving (initial salvation).

This in no means communicates that the gift of salvation can’t be forfeited. It most certainly can be (Luke 8:13; Romans 11:20-22; Hebrews 10:26-39; 2 Peter 2:20-22, etc.).

After being saved, the recipient of the gift of salvation must “endure to the end”, must continue to “walk in the light” with Christ in order to be perpetually cleansed (1 John 1:7).

Charles Finney is the one who perpetrated the lie that righteousness is not imputed.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” John 6:47

Salvation begins at initial, is present, and future.

“Who delivered (past-at initial salvation) us from so great a death, and doth deliver (as we presently abide): in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us (future);” 2 Corinthians 1:10

The Death before the Death [podcast]

Gethsemane Preceded Calvary

“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43  And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” Luke 22:42-44

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

“Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11  For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12  So then death worketh in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:10-12

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25  For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” Luke 9:23-25

Shall We Freshly Declare the Cross to be Front and Center in our Personal Lives?

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

“Rend Your Heart, and Not Your Garments” [podcast]

Who Does God Look to? Who Does God Dwell in?

Beware of any man pretending to represent Christ who isn’t praying and preaching for you to be possessed by a humble and contrite heart.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3

“‘Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’ (Matthew 5:3). A low condition.  ‘Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted’ (Matthew 5:4). To mourn over our sin and our utter wickedness before a holy and righteous God. Those are the ones who will receive the comfort and ‘joy in the Holy Ghost’ (Romans 14:17).” Karen Cochran

Abandoning Our Own Sin, Our Own Way, for God and His Better Way!

To “rend your heart” is a biblical phrase meaning to tear open your heart in radical sincerity, true humility, and genuine repentance.

The phrase comes from Joel 2:13 in the Bible: “Rend your heart and not your garments and return to the Lord your God.”

One source notes the following:

“Context and Deeper Meaning:

  • Cultural Background: In ancient times, the Jewish people would tear (rend) their clothes as a public, highly visible display of grief or repentance.
  • The Spiritual Message: God is warning that outward rituals (like ripping clothing) are meaningless if the heart remains unchanged. Rending your heart implies breaking through your pride, letting go of excuses, and being completely vulnerable and authentic before God.
  • The Reward: The verse goes on to say that God is “gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” Tearing open your heart allows you to experience His forgiveness and restore your relationship with Him.”

To see an example of rending one’s physical garment in representation of rending their heart, see Acts 14:11-18.

Where is the LORD Looking?

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7

Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13 and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God” Joel 2:12-14

“What a gracious invitation is contained in these words. How tenderly the Lord reasons with his people. And what an encouraging assurance it folds up with. Reader! do not fail to observe that this call of the Lord, the accompanying grace to incline the heart to the observance of it is implied. It is most blessed ever to remember that when the Lord thus comes forth in his endearing invitations, he is secretly inclining the heart to accept them. Grace must first enter the heart, or there will be no inclination to obey.” Robert Hawker

“Jeremiah’s message was never meant to leave the heart in despair. Every warning from God carried an invitation to return. The Lord does not expose empty religion to shame His people, but to heal them. Repentance is not the loss of hope, it is the beginning of hope. Christ still receives every soul that comes with humility, and He gives living faith where there was only habit, peace where there was only fear, and joy where there was only emptiness. The call remains the same today, to draw near to Him with a sincere heart, trusting that His mercy is always greater than our weakness.” Dan Blincoe

A Fresh Start with God Always Begins with Humility and True Repentance

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19

14Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?” Joel 2:12-14

Concerning rending our hearts before the LORD, one source notes:

The classic Bible passage on this concept is Joel 2:13, where God commands: “Rend your heart and not your garments”.  In ancient biblical culture, tearing (or “rending”) one’s physical clothing was a customary, visible display of extreme grief, despair, or repentance. Through the prophet Joel, God is essentially telling His people: Stop doing the empty, outward religious ritual of tearing your clothes to show everyone how sorry you are. Instead, let me see true, inward brokenness over your sins.

Examples of Rending Physical Garments

In the Bible, the physical act of tearing clothes was used as a dramatic expression of deep emotion in several well-known narratives:

  • Joseph’s Brothers (Genesis 37:29, 34): When Reuben realized Joseph was not in the pit, and later when the brothers brought Joseph’s blood-stained coat to Jacob, they tore their clothes in grief and despair.
  • Job (Job 1:20): After hearing that he had lost all his wealth and his children, Job stood up and tore his robe as an outward sign of his overwhelming sorrow.
  • King David (2 Samuel 1:11-12): When David received news of the deaths of King Saul and Jonathan, he and his men tore their clothes to mourn.
  • The High Priest (Matthew 26:65): In a dramatic display of hypocritical outrage, the high priest tore his own garments when Jesus declared He was the Son of God, falsely accusing Him of blasphemy.

The Spiritual Meaning of “Rending the Heart”

The concept of “rending the heart” contrasts an outward show with inward reality.

  • Genuine Repentance: Tearing your heart means being vulnerable, acknowledging your brokenness, and deeply repenting of sin before God.
  • Prioritizing Relationships over Rituals: God desires a sincere heart—true sorrow and a desire to change—more than he desires traditional religious pageantry or dramatic, public displays of grief.
  • The Promise of Forgiveness: In Joel 2:13, the command to rend the heart is immediately followed by the promise of grace: “Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love”.

God sees beyond our external habits and religious actions, requiring instead a humble, contrite heart to fully experience His mercy.”

God’s Mercy

“Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13  And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14  Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?” Joel 2:12-14

In God’s Word, where we see men who tear open their garments…. This holds the illustration of rending our hearts before the LORD.

Don’t render outward tearing, no, rather, tear open your inner man, your heart—be honest, sincere, exposed, and vulnerable to the LORD whom you trust.

Let’s attempt to get at, to ascertain what God is commanding of His beloved people to do in this “rend your heart” passage.

“Joel 2:13: Rend your heart—Let it not be merely a rending of your garments, but let your hearts be truly contrite. Merely external worship and hypocritical pretensions will only increase the evil, and cause God to meet you with heavier judgments.

For he is gracious—Good and benevolent in his own nature.

Merciful—Pitying and forgiving, as the effect of goodness and benevolence.

Slow to anger —He is not easily provoked to punish, because he is gracious and merciful.

Of great kindness—Exuberant goodness to all them that return to him.

And repenteth him of the evil—Is ever ready to change his purpose to destroy, when he finds the culprit willing to be saved. See the notes on Exo_34:6, Exo_34:7.” Adam Clarke

“Joel 2:12-14: III. DIVINE APPEAL TO JUDAH TO REPENT (2:12-14)
Even now, the LORD calls the people to repentance. It is not too late to return to Him. But it must be more than outward ritual. Their turning was to be with all their heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” Believer’s Bible Commentary

To rend our hearts is the consistent message, mandate of God to His people of all ages and eras.

The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalms 34:18

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalms 51:17

In Joel 2 the LORD reminds those who are backslidden that He “is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. 14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? …”

They must meet His stated conditions to receive His blessings ….

He promises that He will forgive them as they…..

“Joel 2:12-27: THE AVERTING OF JUDGMENT
To rend the garment is easy, but a broken and contrite heart can be imparted only by the grace of the Holy Spirit. The love of God should bring us to repentance. He takes no pleasure in our miseries and if men repent and turn from their sin they find an immediate and loving welcome to the Father’s heart and home. Joel had called for the trumpet to announce war; he now directs the trumpet blast to summon the people, from the highest to the lowest, to plead for help. Prayer and true repentance and faith bring an immediate answer. As the husband yearns over his erring but repentant wife, and is indignant with those who have maltreated her, so will Jehovah remove from us, when we turn to Him, those who have cruelly oppressed us.
The great things Jehovah did against Egypt and Babylon are an earnest of what He will do again. The earth (and all  the creation  of God) … have good reason to rejoice in what awaits them. God promises not only to forgive sin, but to make us happy and well provided as if the locust and cankerworm had never settled upon our lives.” FB Meyer

Religious hypocrites, counterfeits, emphasize the outward to cover their inner darkness, rebellion.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.   Matthew 23:23-25

“He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” Mark 7:6
