Proverbs 31

10 who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household and a portion to her maidens. 16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25 Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:10-31 (KJV)

Created to be a Blessing – Distinct Roles

“And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him.” Genesis 2:18

Woman was taken out of man’s side which seems to signify that she is to be held close and affectionately by her husband as an “heir(s) together of the grace of life.” (1 Peter 3:7)

“And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:21-25

“The fall of mankind occurred as a result of the woman leading, and the man following. This is the exact opposite of God’s order. As we see in the church at Thyatira, with man’s order comes chaos every time.” J.

Why did God bother to create woman if He didn’t have a unique and special role for her in the family and in the church? She is “the weaker vessel” and to be cherished and protected from harm by her father, husband, and the godly men around her (1 Peter 3:1-7). As a wife she is the “heir together of the grace of life” with her husband (1 Peter 3:7)

“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7

“Giving honor” to the women would include honoring the One who made her by honoring His role for her and protecting her from His holy judgment that comes upon all who do things their own way instead of His.

The ending statement here in this 1 Peter 3 passage, “that your prayers be not hindered,” seems to imply and indicate that when we do things according to God’s Word, there will be perpetual fellowship with Him and answered prayer.

Women Doing Ministry

“And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.” Acts 21:8-9

As we see in the above passage, Phillip had four daughters “which did prophesy,” so we know by this and other Scripture that God desires to use women in all nine of the gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.

In the following verse we see that the apostle Paul assumes and cites that women do pray and prophesy in the local assemblies.

“But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” 1 Corinthians 11:5

God has ordained that His women – those born again and presently walking with Jesus – are to be blessed to fellowship in His Word and used by Him to do many types of ministry, yet not lead His body

(1 Timothy 2:9-14, etc.).

Can Women Teach and Evangelize?

Yes, as long as it isn’t in a usurps or authoritative manner over men (1Timothy 2:9-14).

What about Anna?

“And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;” Luke 2:36

When observing the full counsel of Scripture, taking it all into account, it should be obvious that the place of leadership is not spoken of here when speaking of Anna being a prophetess. A prophetess is speaking of her prophesying, which is a gift of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:7-10) and not a leadership or elder gift which Jesus gave “to men” when He rose again (Ephesians 4:8-11).

“There is no doubt that God will use women in the ministry. He will use a woman as much as she is willing to die to self, deny self, and live for the Lord. And the woman that the Lord uses will not be about herself…she will be about her Lord.” Stephanie Pitts

Those Old Testament women were prophetesses not prophets. Prophetesses move in the gift of prophesy as any Holy Spirit filled believer can (1 Corinthians 12:7-10). Prophecy is a gift of the Holy Spirit whereas being a prophet is more like a leadership office in the body of Christ which is reserved for men (Ephesians 4:8-12). Prophet is one of the five gifts of JESUS whereas prophesying is one of the 9 gifts of the SPIRIT. Perhaps the FATHER gave the motive gifts listed in Romans 12:4-8.

No subject seems to bring Jezebel out of the wood works with a vengeance as does this one. That spirit does not want to be denied control. It’s all about control for the person possessed by a “spirit of antichrist” that denies the order of God in creation and in relation to His body of saints (1 John 4:1-3). For the true disciple, it’s all about realizing our own utter depravity and insufficiency and gladly trusting in the LORD’s full and complete holiness and the blessed sufficiency of His glorious grace. The true disciples of Christ have already relinquished control over to the LORD Himself, abandoning that role in denying self that Christ can reign supreme in their lives (Matthew 16:23-24; Luke 9:23-24; 22:42; John 12:24-25; 2 Corinthians 1:9; Galatians 2:20; 5:24). Any person who denies, despises, or crassly disregards God’s specific order in creation does not do this toward men but rather toward God Himself.

“He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his Holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 4:8

This topic of women in ministry brings fiery responses which demonstrates the epidemic of the jezebellian Jesus seemed to indicate would be rampant in the final days (Revelation 2:20-24).

It is utterly refreshing to see the work of the LORD in many precious sisters that the LORD is working in. The Father Himself and also every godly man would surely agree that there is nothing more attractive than a God fearing woman who walks in the exact role God made her to live out!

7 Ways to Forgive [podcast]

PRAY

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 5:44

LOVE AND DO GOOD TO THE OFFENDER

“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” Romans 12:9

REFUSE TO SPEAK EVIL OF THE OFFENDER

“Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.” Romans 12:14

RELEASE THEM FROM YOUR PUNISHMENT

“Recompense (repay) to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” Romans 12:17-19

DON’T CELEBRATE THEIR FAILURES

“Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.” Proverbs 24:17-18

TREAT THEM THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED

“And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31

STOP DWELLING ON THE PAST

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18

The blessedness of being merciful to others:

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7

The only way to prevent holding a grudge, is to simply forgive them – as God freely forgave you through the infinite price Christ paid for your sins on the cross, of which you don’t deserve (Psalms 103:10).

“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.” James 5:7-9

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:30-32

Being kind and forgiving towards others becomes simple as we look in the mirror and declare with Paul the apostle: “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.” (Romans 7:18)

“He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” Psalms 103:10

Forgiveness becomes easy when we look in the mirror to see the person (us, me) who needs God’s mercy more than any other person alive on the earth! Memorize Ephesians 4:32 now. KJB

“For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” James 1:20

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” Colossians 3:12-14

Forgiveness Quotes

Forgiveness is ultra important to God. If you don’t forgive all others, you are not forgiven of your own sin and are as sure for hell as if you were already there. If you refuse to forgive you damn your own soul, non-negotiably. irrevocably.

“Forgiveness does not mean what happened is okay. It means not letting what happened take any more of your happiness.” Michelle Maros

“There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love.” Bryant McGill

“Love is an act of endless forgiveness. Forgiveness is me giving up my right to hurt you for hurting me. Forgiveness is the final act of love.” Reinhold Niebuhr

“Holding a grudge doesn’t make you strong; it makes you bitter. Forgiving doesn’t make you weak; it sets you free.” unknown

Christ’s Non-Negotiable Original Gospel Imperative [podcast]

“He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” Matthew 12:30

It’s one thing to claim we are with Christ and He with us, and it’s another thing to prove we are with the Savior by adhering to His words. Jesus told us that those who are “of God” hear and obey His words (John 8:47).

If one chooses not to love Jesus enough to obey His stated terms, such a man has rejected the Son of God for the love of sinful self and will perish in his own corruption (Matthew 22:37-40; Luke 9:23-24; 14:33; 17:33; John 14:15; 1 John 2:3-6, etc.).

“Repentance is to TAKE SIDES with God against yourself. It is a CHANGE of attitude toward SELF, toward SIN, toward GOD, toward CHRIST that is so REAL that it RESULTS in a changed life. It is raising the WHITE FLAG in SURRENDER to God and turning to Christ as your only LORD and Savior. Repentance is NOT a work … works are the fruit of repentance (Ephesians 2:8-10).” Trent Austin

Only the counterfeit will get upset at this Gospel message because such a rebel wants nothing to do with taking personal responsibility for his sin, the denial of self, the crucified life to be set apart, holy, and having the Savior reign!

Notice how Jesus knits the denial of self, the daily cross, the putting off the deeds of the body, of keeping under the body (the iniquitous fallen nature) with the destiny of the eternal soul.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” Luke 9:23-25

Jesus made it clear here that the cross is an original Gospel essential, an absolute imperative to eternal glory with Him!

Each of us proves exactly who we love the most by the way we are living! – God or self!

Everything that is happening in your life now is being allowed by God in order to get you down low into the death and burial with Christ. Read 2 Corinthians 4.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-12
