Feeling like darkness abounds? Didn’t Jesus tell us it would be this way preceding His return?

YOU are the light of Jesus in this world beloved of God.

Bow down in death and burial and Christ the Light of the world is going to shine through your life!!!! YOU are His salt, preserving that which is holy, shining that love and light and truth that makes men free.

TODAY: There’s no message that is important compared to the message of the original Gospel of Jesus Christ! Jesus says His “labourers are few” – be one! (Matthew 9:35-38)

We, as followers of Jesus, should be like light. We are light in the Lord (Eph 5:8) and must shine as lights (Phil 2:15).

“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” Ephesians 2:15-16

Jesus called himself the Light of the world (John 8:12, John 9:5). What a privileged and great responsibility was given to us, by Jesus, when He said we are the light of the world. Notice that Jesus did not say we must become light. He said we are light – we are either fulfilling or failing the responsibility given to us.

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Can you hide a city that is sitting on top of a hill? Its light at night can be seen for miles.

“Ye are the light of the world – If ye are thus holy, you can no more be hid than the sun in the firmament: no more than a city on a mountain – Probably pointing to that on the brow of the opposite hill.” John Wesley

If we live for Christ, we will glow like lights, showing others what Christ is like.

We hide our light by:

being quiet when we should speak,
going along with the crowd,
denying the light,
letting sin dim our light,
not explaining our light to others, or
ignoring the needs of others.

Be a beacon of truth, don’t shut your light off from the rest of the world. Let us look continuously for ways to let our light shine every day. Light will guide those who have lost their way so that they can find their way back to Jesus.

Of Matthew 5:10-16, F.B. Meyer writes:

THE NEW SALT AND LIGHT OF HUMAN SOCIETY
We must expect to be persecuted, if we hold up the pure light of a consistent life amid the evils of the world. Men hate the light which exposes their misdeeds. They will tolerate you only so long as you leave them alone. But the universal testimony of those who have suffered thus is that the Son of man walks through the furnace beside His faithful martyrs.

Our holy lives ought to act as salt to arrest the corruption around us. It is said that the presence of a child has arrested many a crime. A sudden silence should fall on certain kinds of conversation when we enter the room. But it is very easy to lose our saltness, as did Lot in Sodom and the seven churches of Asia. See also Ezekiel 15:2-5. Our lives ought to serve also as light. The spirit of man is a candle. See Proverbs 20:27. We need to be kindled by the nature of God. Men light candles and God will light you. Let us burn and shine as John did, John 5:35. Beware of the bushel and ask God to choose your stand.”

You know you are deceived when the intricacies of timing of Christ’s return are more important to you than Christ Himself and making Him known.

Such are not ready to meet Christ.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

“A Faithful Man shall Abound with Blessings” [podcast]

Do you desire to abound in the blessings of God?

Jesus our LORD taught that as we are faithful with what the LORD has already given us, then, and only then, will He multiply it.

ASK YOURSELF: Are you faithful to abide, to obey Him by obeying His Word? If so, Jesus and the Father are dwelling richly with you and will multiply you according to your proper, wise, faithful stewardship of what is already in your possession – which is from Him. See John 14:21-23.

“A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” Proverbs 28:20

God is not going to add to or multiply His supply and blessings to anyone who is sitting around, doing the church attendance thing, and not doing His biblically stated will – of loving, tending to, giving to, serving, and blessing others (Matthew 22:37-39). Every true disciple is a doer of the WORD (James 1:22; 1 John 2:3-6, etc.). A true disciple is not known merely by being a church attender, which any old dead fish counterfeit can be. No, the true servant of Christ is known by his supreme love for, and faithful obedience to Christ his King, his “first love” (Revelation 2:4-5).

Every good gift and blessing is from God (James 1:17). We take from what He’s given us and we share it with others – whether that be supply, or spiritual blessings in Christ, or material blessings.

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. ⁷Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. ⁸And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: ⁹(as it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. ¹⁰Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) ¹¹being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

“Freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8

ARE GOD’S BLESSINGS CONDITIONAL? Yes they are. Here’s but one example of how God’s people forfeited His blessings due to living life on their own terms instead of complying with His.

“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.” Jeremiah 5:25

Matthew 25:14-30

Prayer: Holy Father, I come to You in the name of my LORD Jesus. Please make my heart to long for more of You, to love and worship You as my supreme God, Supplier, and Provider. Please unite my heart to truly fear Thy holy Name and to be quickened by Your Word and Holy Spirit unto obedience. Please multiply Your grace to my life as You are working in me and Your body both to will and to do of Your good pleasure. In Jesus’ name, amen.
