“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent (an animal) beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:3
Then, fallen man began to worship animals. Nothing has changed.
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9
“The Egyptian pantheon was especially fond of zoomorphism, with many animals sacred to particular deities—cats to Bastet, ibises and baboons to Thoth, crocodiles to Sobek and Ra, fish to Set, mongoose, shrew and birds to Horus, dogs and jackals to Anubis, serpents and eels to Atum, beetles to Khepera, bulls to Apis. …” Wikipedia
It would be nearly impossible to find art used in idolatrous Egyptian worship that didn’t contain animals or at least parts of animals. Snakes, cattle, oxen, cats, crocodiles, and many more animals are depicted.
The worship of animals, depicted as gods, is ancient. Today, though we don’t carve statues of animals to worship, there is far too much attention placed on them, which is idolatrous worship. Perhaps you could say many today are domesticated idolaters. In Egypt, while people were being enslaved and grossly mistreated, animals were worshiped. Today nothing has changed (Ecclesiastes 1:9). We have people, even many who claim to be Christians, who place much more importance on their pets than they do their fellow man for whom Jesus exclusively came to redeem – and sent His people to reach.
“The role of an animal in the modern age is primarily that of companionship or food. Older cultures, however, did not always behold animals in such a manner. In fact, cultures like that of ancient Egypt used some animals for survival purposes, and associated others with gods and goddesses, using them for sacrificial …” Ancient Egypt Online
While the Egyptians worshiped animals as gods, today, many seem to be far too emotionally attached with their animals, pets. Instead of building healthy relationships with the LORD and their neighbors, people, they resort to their animals.
“Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.” Jeremiah 10:1-3
The need for this darkness to have the light of truth shined on it, seems to be underscored and confirmed by the vicious attacks received from several of those who’ve read this post. Pointing out this self-evident, most obvious fact – that God created mankind as the highest part of His creation – in His own image – and that Jesus came to die for mankind, not animals, has brought out darkness in some.
“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:19-21
Did Jesus Come and Die for Pets or People?
Mike Kingswood writes: “It is as God said, that the ‘creation’ would be worshipped and served more than the ‘Creator.’ (Check out Romans 1:25.) For many, stories of and sentiment for pets seem to rank higher on the emotion and value scale than a human life in a womb. Why do we love our pets more and even place them higher than human existence and relationship? Is it because they never talk back, never disagree, and are completely controllable and subject to our will?”
While animals are God’s very creation, they are to be kept in perspective by the true disciple of Jesus. Animals are not evil but the hearts of the people who commit idolatry by showing undue attention to mere beasts is a sin.
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;” Exodus 20:3-5
Anything that is more important in our hearts than loving God and obeying Him by serving His people, is the sin of idolatry.
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40
We will stand before God and give full account for how we treated our fellow man, not animals.
Yet, in the face of this revelation, the apostasy of sinful mankind continues and includes beast worship:
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Romans 1:22-25
GOD made animals but they are far less important to Him than humans and only created to help humans. Priorities? Is it not true that some spend more time, energy, and money on their pet than they do helping humans in need and give less to the salvation of humans through the preaching of the Gospel? Unreal. Time to repent.
Nothing sinful about having a pet. Yet we must ask whether or not we are doing what God saved and sent us to do.
“For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” Romans 14:10
Stacy Strother writes: “I think that it is the Spirit of God inside me that is grieved when I see those commercials like, ASPCA TV Commercial For Neglect and Abused Animals. It really makes me sick! I think of all that money given to that CRAP, that could be used for babies going to becoming adopted. Let’s spend that money on saving the HUMAN babies! That is why I believe that the HOLY GHOST is grieved inside me!”
Stacy is correct: Those commercials are absolutely disgusting. Precious innocent babies are dying daily in our nation and these devils are playing on the emotions of dupes to give money to help animals, mere beasts. True saints don’t give to those causes! Let me say it again: God’s people support His work, His Gospel, and the human lives He has breathed the breath of life into!
—– MANY TODAY pride themselves in being an “animal lover.” Okay God made animals and they are a blessing. Yet, He didn’t make them in His holy image. The Son of God didn’t come and die for animals but for His highest creation, mankind…….. God didn’t make animals so we could put them above those He made in His very image. I’m a Jesus lover and a people lover …… and you? …… Who cares if you’re an “animal lover”? God wants you to be an obedient lover of Himself and other PEOPLE.
Perhaps there is no command to love animals because He foreknew, especially have the fall, that man would have the inclination to worship animals while neglecting their fellow man, their neighbor.
Lourens Strydom from South Africa writes: “This post touches a very sensitive spot. I love Americans, but I have to say that Americans idolize their pets. From someone’s opinion who lives outside the United States, I can tell that animals are like gods to Americans by just watching some youtube videos and TV shows. I’ve got to be honest, this repulses me. It is disgusting how they would spend ridiculous amounts of money on some animal, instead of the poor. America, America!”
DOES God’s creation have order and priority? Hint: YES!
Joseph Spillman gives us a sanity check when he writes: “God wants people to take care of animals but not revere them or treat them the same as humans. There is weird stuff going on. The proof is that many are un-concerned with the murder of the unborn while grossly concerned about ‘animal welfare.'”
Believers in particular are to care for human beings created in God’s image more than any other part of His creation.
THIS IS WHAT MATTERS TO THE LORD!
Children matter to Jesus – and to all who truly know Him!
Debbie Lord writes: “Surprisingly, this message really hit a sore spot with a lot of people. God told us that the love of many (for people) would grow cold, and even though He created the animals as a blessing and told mankind to take dominion over them, the enemy has once again moved in to bring a disproportionate ‘love’ for animals as a distraction from our real purpose on this earth, which is to love God and to love people, as stated in Matthew 22;36-40: ‘ Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.’ There is obviously nothing wrong with having a pet, enjoying them and taking good care of them, but not elevating them to a position where it replaces God’s requirement of loving Him with your whole being, and loving your neighbor as yourself.”
Again, there is no intention in this post to advocate any abuse of animals but to elevate mankind back up where God intended and it is in His mind! Humans are the only part of His creation made in His image as a living soul and free moral agency.
Only mankind, the crowning jewel and chief purpose of His creation, is a “living soul.”
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7
Laurellynne McHardie Greaves writes: “I absolutely care about animals but human life comes first for me as a Christian…..I dislike and grieve the abuse and neglect of animals but I detest and morn the slaughter of innocent children and the fact that children in the womb need a voice and protection.”
Let me go on record, standing on the authority of God’s eternal Word, that any person who is more interested in animals – beasts – than they are about humans and the human race, is a child of the devil himself.
Observe the telling fruit: Many argue for the value of mere animals and yet won’t spend the slightest energy agreeing with God as to their infinitely inferior importance compared to PEOPLE – the only part of His creation made in His very own image. Observe.
The backlash for this post, which is clearly biblical, is telling. This backlash for simply stating the obvious – the divine order of creation’s priority! This is living proof of misplaced priorities and the need to repent before it’s too late. Here you have people getting all up in arms and upset that their little mere beast pet is being put in it’s place – according to divine priority. Yet, day after day precious innocent babies created in God’s image are murdered in cold blood and they could care less! They do nothing to speak up against this barbaric atrocity! Lost souls!
One can notice all the people who viciously come against the preaching of Bible truth of divine priorities. These same people wouldn’t lift a finger to help dying babies and hell bound, perishing eternal souls all around them, yet are going to come unglued that someone dared to tell them their pet is a mere beast with no eternal soul! WOW! Total hypocrisy! (Isaiah 5:20-24; John 3:19-21)
The beast-worshiping idolaters who’ve balked at this post say little about the completely misplaced priorities and energies and monies of so many who claim to be serving Jesus! THAT’s the whole point. Idolatry. Which is soul damning sin!
There’s a delusional misplacement of priorities among many who claim to be Bible believing Christians. There they go accusing me of advocating harming animals. I made no such hint. This post is clear evidence that this darkness needed to have the light of truth shone on it.
Where did Jesus command anyone to take care of animals? No where! Yet EVERY command He gave on love was specifically toward other human beings. He commanded His people to “love one another” 13 times and in every case it was toward our neighbors, not mere beasts.
“A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Proverbs 12:20
It’s interesting that when this topic of pet worship and idolatry comes up, instead of repenting, some throw out the one verse that instructs us not to be cruel to animals. Yet, the whole of Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, addresses that in serving the LORD, we are to love PEOPLE – those made in His image.
People could just as easily say they are “PEOPLE lovers” and don’t. Yet some people claiming to love Jesus who came to die on that cross for PEOPLE are heard proudly declaring “I’m an animal lover.” There are bumpers stickers with this saying also.
Maria Valdez writes: “America has completely lost its focus and reverence for life, unless it’s a pet…😟“
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! 24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble (hell), and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 5:20-24
You missed the point if you think I am advocating being cruel to animals. Get a clue! Animals are beasts, period. Humans alone are made in the Creator’s image and many care and give more to animals than to people, babies, and the Gospel for lost souls whom Jesus came and died for!
The point of this post on this topic is that true believers don’t spend more time, energy and resources on animals than they do on PEOPLE and the Gospel Jesus gave us to preach to PEOPLE!
Those who have manifested devils (demons) at the preaching of the truth are so sinfully desensitized to the lives of precious innocent babies that all they can see is that someone is threatening their soul damning beast idolatry! It’s time to repent! When you do, the LORD will give you the light of truth and the order of His priorities. Your eyes will then be opened concerning what is truly going on around us and you will no longer waste you life on anything but PEOPLE! Children
Sorry to break it to some of you “animal lovers” but your animal is a mere beast. Do you spend as much affection of the eternal souls Jesus died to save as you do your mere beast? God is watching.
This post is proof of the need to declare divine priorities. Jesus didn’t come and die for animals.
I don’t care how much you love your animal! It’s still an animal and you are a counterfeit if you have no love and acts of charity to HUMAN beings and could care less about precious innocent children being murdered in cold blood by abortion.
People claiming to be Christians will get their money out for mere beasts but the same counterfeits could care less that a believer is in need or to give to the work of the Gospel! Bad fruit proving they are devils. This is the fruit of lost souls!
The fact that some will read a post like this that is simply setting in order divine priorities and say it’s animal cruelty is proof of how delusional people are and the need for posts like this! Darkness. NO ONE hinted of being cruel to animals and the fact that some insinuate such shows the darkness of their heart.
—- ON A PERSONAL NOTE …..
You will never hear of me giving to an animal/beast cause as long as there are Christ’s saints and ministries in need.
Somebody give me half a break here man ….. for me, yes for my personal conscience (not yours – Rom. 14), I am not going to put a penny into a pet cancer fund (or anything like it) until every human being created in the image of God has heard the Law and the Gospel ….. I know God made those precious dogs and cats, etc…… yet are some spending more time and money on their pets than on obeying Christ by feeding the poor and supporting the work of Jesus, the Great Commission work? Just asking and saying ……
YOU claim to be serving Christ? If so, turn back to Him today in repentance if you use nothing He gives you to help His work in the earth. Your deposits and debits reveal exactly where your heart is according to Jesus (Matthew 6:19-24). You claim to be serving the One who came and gave all to rescue the perishing and yet you contribute nothing to see that accomplished? Counterfeit (Titus 1:16).
—- YES ANIMALS are made by God and are cute and are our pets (some of them) … but does that justify excess attention and money being spent on them while neglecting the eternal souls of lost men, women and children? Did Jesus come to die for animals or for people made in His image? What shall we say when we stand to give account before Him who “gave His only begotten Son” to die for the sins and souls of mankind? (John 3:16)
The Bible is God’s message to mankind with a few verses sprinkled in about animals (Ps. 33:11). His priorities are to be our priorities … otherwise we are guilty of perverting justice (Isaiah 5:20-24).
“This is a good message. Nailed it!” Bill W.
How Important is Your Animal to You?
How Important is Jesus to You?
How important are the precious eternal human souls Jesus came and bled for?
Do you give more money to feeding and caring for your pet(s) than you do to the work of Christ’s ministry – to feed His saints and win lost souls?
Praise God that He made animals and our pets for a reason, but do we pay more attention to them than the LORD Himself and human beings who are created in His image?
There are new laws put on the books monthly to protect animals while precious babies are being murdered in cold blood daily. We are in the final days friends … preach His blessed Gospel! Read Romans 1.

How could someone claiming to be born again possibly spend more time, money, and effort on their pet than they do on lost souls who are going to hell without knowing Christ? Impossible.
Families not loving one another does not in any way change God’s order and that’s what this post/message is about. It’s settled in God’s Word …. God only created mankind in His holy image and when man sinned Christ came to die to rescue us back to Him and the Father. Animals are merely here to be a blessing but they are clearly a lower form of creation. Man is God’s highest creation and to be adored and blessed and loved … Listen to our Creator and see who’s listed and see if animals are listed in these two commandments which sum all things up: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 22:37-39
When the LORD’s apostle John spoke of loving others, he wasn’t speaking about loving mere animals: “He that loveth not knoweth not God.” 1 John 4:8
The command to “love one another” appears 12 times in the New Testament Scriptures and isn’t once referring to loving animals, but in every case to loving other human beings created in God’s image.
Evading Human Relationships
Due to wounding, some cling to animals, their pets. They spend their lives and resources trying to connect with a mere animal while evading building relationships with other humans, all because they’ve been wounded. That’s a sin. God called you to be a blessing to and to interrelate with and love other human beings.
That’s the whole point to this post and regardless of who agrees, it is divine truth. Not because any mere man communicated it but because it’s clearly revealed in God’s Word. Perhaps the LORD wants you to get before Him today for some confession and healing. This “hit a nerve” or “struck a chord” and there’s a root reason why and the LORD will heal your heart if you will come before Him honestly. Also, just because our earthly family hurts us doesn’t mean we should forsake having personal relationships with others. And, perhaps we need to begin with our own honest admission and repentance concerning our own abuse of others and cease just blaming them…
If an animal gets no love, nothing is lost. When a human gets no love, they die in their sins and go to hell. Time to wake up and repent.
Some, in their rebellion, avoid and refuse the LORD’s command to love other PEOPLE and waste their love solely on animals….. this in no way diminishes or slights the LORD’s creation of animals and yet nonetheless this is the truth. … and we stand on it with both feet and all our weight.

“Brother Todd I am a big animal lover but I am also a lover of all that God created, But human life is far more precious than any animal especially a child. The same people crying all these negative things against this mother are most likely the same people that have allowed millions of Unborn Baby’s to be killed became they don’t believe the are really alive until they are fully Born. Yet they have even killed them after they were born. Just shows us what the Word of God tells us in the last days they will call Good Evil and Evil Good. Lord forgive us as Your Body for not standing up to all this evil way back when it first started as all of our no votes were a yes vote for those changing most of the laws that were changed. Thank You Lord for sending us some real Godly men and woman to spread your truth about all of these false prophets and teachers who are stealing from the true workers who do not water down Your Holy Word. I ask Lord for your Holy Boldness to fall upon all you have called to bring forth your Word. Brother Charles Pray.”
