What Does It Mean to be “yielded”?
“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” Romans 6:13
“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:16
“I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.” Romans 6:19
Rom 6:13, 16 KJV. When your life is truly yielded in this way, then your life, like rich earth soil, will yield a crop of blessing, and you will be fulfilled.
Giving up control.
Letting go and letting God.
Surrender of self’s rights.
Going for the real gusto of life; not mine but God’s which ends up being mine.
Acceptance of all things, especially the negative things like pain and suffering, which work together for good. Rom. 8:28.
Choosing to elevate others instead of self.
Going with the flow of the River of God instead of pushing the river of self.
Taking up the cross daily. Dying with Christ to receive resurrection life and power.
Letting others have their way.
Realizing that if I am in primary control of my life God is not.
Blessing those who don’t deserve it.
Getting low. Taking the low place so others can be exalted.
Humility. Meekness. Gentleness.
Waiting on God instead of forcing your own way.
Holding bitterness instead of venting it.
Transforming your pain instead of transmitting it.
Unconditional forgiveness, mercy, love and grace toward each and all persons.
Viewing opposition and adversity as transformative. Being willing to let it do its work in me.
Refusing to resort to threats, intimidation, force, violence, manipulation, people skills, etc in order to get my way.
