“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word ABOVE all thy name.” Psalms 138:2
Do we realize that God has magnified His WORD above even His name? Psalms 138:2 WOW
The Holy Ghost is the One who gave us God’s Word – so we won’t be deceived, including being deceived into thinking we are being led of Him when we aren’t. God will never contradict His own Word which is His standard. Especially as young Christians, we can think we are being led by the Holy Spirit and yet later find out that we were contradicting God’s Word. This is why the believer must be led by the Word of God primarily.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105
“Beware of False Prophets” which are known by their fruits – primarily of their refusal to simply preach and wholly adhere to God’s written Word (Matthew 7:15; 24:11, 24; 1 John 4:1, etc.).
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20
The primary way to “try” or test a spirit/person is to see if they speak according to God’s Word, or not. This is the example we are given of the disciples at Berea.
“And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10-11
WHEN people speak of their “prophetic” words and their rhema words and seek to subtly displace the final authority of Holy Scripture, beware. They treat the Bible as if it’s the step child, vainly seeking to remove it as the foundational fountain of divine knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. As we can observe, we will discover that such people, like Lucifer, desire to be the star of the show. Remember that he is the fallen star. See Isaiah 14:12-15. They want you listening to their so-called prophetic words instead of trusting in, walking with, and learning of Christ by way of His Spirit and Word. In most cases, as you peer deeper, you will see they are associated with false ministries such as the wolves and false churches of the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) movement which has many strands that are poisoning people.
THE HIGHEST AND FINAL AUTHORITY!
NEXT time someone seeks to deceive you into hearing their word or someone elses and not pointing exclusively to Holy Scripture, remember that God chose sovereignly to speak through His written Word – which is the primary way He leads His New Testament church and He told us that His written Word is MORE authoratative then even His own audible voice – 2 Peter 1:12-21.
Make no mistake, our unchanging LORD and Savior uses His Word to lead His church, empowered by the Holy Ghost.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Their language and persuasions sound like the typical NAR (new apostolic reformation) jargon. With the absence of declaring that all must come straight from and be weighed in the balance against Holy Writ, they are saying that a supposed “word” from God that they got from some spirit is equal to Holy Scripture. Nonsense. Nothing is on the level as God’s written Word – not even the actual audible voice of the Father speaking from Heaven. Read 2 Peter 1:12-21 carefully. The authority of a word spoken is directly related to who spoke or is speaking it. With this truth in mind, we must ask just who is divine other than the Almighty God? God’s written Word is the fountain of His perfect wisdom and final authority and anything that contradicts or in any way seeks to detract from it is from the enemy. Read Acts 17:10-11; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:16-21, etc..
Beloved, the LORD made sure He preserved His written Word for the express image of you knowing Him and being protected from such wolves who are “many.”
(Matthew 7:15; 24:11, 24; Acts 20:27-32; 2 Peter 1:19-2:3, etc.).
ANY saved person who does not make it their highest priority to know Christ by studying His Word, will not be blessed to “endure to the end” and be saved into eternal glory. In fact, any person who was in the past saved and yet is not in God’s Word daily, has already fallen away (Matthew 24:10-13; Luke 8:11-15; John 8:31-32; James 1:21-25, etc.). Read Psalms 119 and find 5 verses in this fabulous chapter to write on index cards (with reference) and memorize.
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17
