NO, it’s not a sin to participate in the solar eclipses and signs in the heavens. Yet, perhaps it would be wise to ask the LORD to use us and help us speak the Word of Gospel, the need to repent and receive Christ!
Shouldn’t we be more concerned about our personal life with the Saviour than we are with any mere sign?
Signs are biblical and so is knowing the “times and the seasons” of Christ’s return but date setting is not (Matthew 24:36; 1 Thessalonians 5:1).
“Jesus gave us end time prophecy to educate us on the signs of His coming, but also as an evangelizing tool! Witnessing 101,the signs of the times!” Elizabeth Tyrna
WHO is going to be ready when Jesus returns?
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above (far above the solar system), not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye (those who are crucified with Christ and have their heart affection set on Him) also appear with him in glory.” Colossians 3:1-4
So many who look to the solar signs do not honor the Saviour who created all things. They honor and creation and not the Creator (Romans 1:25).
“If only everyone was as interested and excited to look up to the Son as they look up to the sun for the eclipse… their lives would change.” Eliset Igat
Should it not be a clue that nearly every pagan heathen and Christ-rejecting atheist and satanist on the planet is watching for these solar signs?
“And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.“ Luke 16:15
GOD is calling for our love for Him to ECLIPSE our love for the things of this world. True repentance needed (Hosea 10:12). ETERNITY with the SAVIOUR or SOLAR ECLIPSE? The SAVIOUR or a mere SIGN? Where are the affections of our hearts? THERE are people who swear they are Christ’s who spend more time, money, and energy frantically marveling over the signs in the heavens while ignoring the One who put them there – not to worship them but HIM! – “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” (Romans 1:25)
THE LORD SENDS HIS MESSENGERS TO WARN – before He destroys irrevocably. “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7) Yet today, so many are more interested in signs instead of repentance and will not be ready when Jesus returns.
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:2-4
What eclipses what? Are you more intrigued with mere signs in the heavens than you are with the one who puts them their?
Jesus warns us about the very thing we see happening all around us today, in this late hour. The LORD specifically instructed us not to watch for signs with hostility in light of His return.
Those who need a sign to serve Jesus do not love Him. They have rejected His Lordship in their daily personal lives.
JUST exactly how thousands walked away from Jesus when He told them they must die to self (John 6). So today, so many are willing to have their fleshly desires and fascinations fed but flee from the LORD’s essential cross message and those who preach it. Jesus wasn’t kidding when He told us that there are “FEW” that enter into glory via the straight gate (Matthew 7:13-14; Luke 13:24). Every single individual human is choosing – today – to reject or truly serve the LORD, on HIS terms. All who refuse are as sure for the lake of fire as if they were already there. God will keep His Word and there will be no second chances (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:11-15).
It seems observable that the vast majority of those who hysterically follow mere signs are not grounded in the Savior who performs those signs for His own purposes glory. Their hearts are set on mere signs and not the Saviour. Sadly many who claim to know Jesus are not ready to meet Christ but are fully studied up on the signs in the heavens.
“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62
If you are truly Christ’s, Jesus told you to be a fisher of mens souls, to “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) Are you doing so or are you in rebellion against the One who died to save you, the LORD Jesus Christ you claim to know and serve?
WHAT did the LORD tell us we needed after He saves us?
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” Colossians 2:6-10
The only “few” who are ready to meet Jesus and be forever with Him, are those who are laying down their own lives in this fleeting world and experiencing a fruit-bearing, abiding life with Christ (John 15:1-16). These are His true disciples, those who are grounded in knowing, loving, and obeying Him daily! (Colossians 2:6-10) They are not easily deceived by the false prophets who capitalize on signs to snare the heart affections of the gullible. Jesus is their all in all and therefore they are not moved
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” Ephesians 4:14
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged (weighed down) with surfeiting (over eating), and drunkenness (over indulgence), and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” Luke 21:34-36
Jesus spoke of signs and also the need to endure to the end to be saved – which many who watch and monitor signs in heart hostility are not doing. Let’s look at verse 11, 19, and 25:
“11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
19 In your patience (endurance to the end) possess ye your souls.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;” Luke 21:11, 19, 25
Just because the Bible tells us that there will signs in the heavens gives no license to worship those signs – and that’s exactly what idolatrous sin we are committing when we spend more time and energy on the signs than we do loving and obeying the Saviour!
Those who hysterically run from one event and sign clearly manifest that they are not grounded in the LORD and Saviour. If they were, nothing could get their attention – they would not be so overly impressed with such things! David was not impressed with Goliath because David had a heart after the LORD and nothing could compare.
So we spend hours reveling an eclipse and haven’t even nourished our hearts in God’s Word?
WHO seeks and revels in mere signs instead of the Savior? “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign;” (Matthew 12:39)
It was the false religionists of Jesus’ day who sought a mere sign. Nothing has changed (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
“Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.” Matthew 12: 38-42
Jesus died, was buried, and raised again from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)! What greater sign do you need?
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22: 37
WHEN we are enthralled, raptured up in and with Christ the LORD, nothing else will impress us. He says He will not share His glory – “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” Isaiah 42:8
THE VAST MAJORITY of people will do ANYTHING – except lay down their lives in their world to follow Jesus! (Matthew 7:13-14; Luke 13:24; John 6:66-67) They will spend every penny, waking moment, and ounce of energy serving the God of self while rejecting the only truth God that can save them. Hell awaits.
IF I AM NOT running after JESUS with a whole heart, I am lukewarm, have left Christ as “first love”, and am a hell bound idolater!
PRAYER: Father in Jesus’ name, forgive my self-idolatry, unbelief, and pride which at the root of my sinful heart! LORD, I come to You right this moment, if never before, asking You to please forgive and cleanse me from all my many sins and take the reigns of my heart and life right this moment and from here forward. I trust Your now LORD Jesus. Please fill me with Your Holy Ghost and use me Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
“The false prophets hurt God’s credibility, and ours, to the nations, because they refer to themselves as Christians! Their worldly “wisdom” is foolishness with God! The Word of God is The Truth which Lives and Abides Forever!!! Who is going to take HIM, or those of us who preach and teach HIS Word, seriously, when lying false prophets claim to be part of The Body of Christ? The apostle Paul named the troublemakers, in his letters, which were read aloud to the churches!” David N. King
