Simple Church: The House Church

Priscilla and Aquila had a church “in their house”:

“Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: 4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.” Romans 16:3-5

When something is organic it simply means that nothing from the outside has entered in, no foreign substances or elements have been added. Organic means that something is in its naturally occurring creative design and form, it is unaltered. See Acts 2:42-47.

3 Essential Basics for Every Believer Per Holy Scripture

1. Daily Bible study (Job 23:12; Jer 15:16; 1 Pet 2:2)
2. Daily life of prayer (1 Thess 5:17)
3. Daily fellowship with other true believers (Acts 2:42-47; Heb 3:13; 10:25)

DOES the gathering you call “church” align with the order seen in the early church records in the New Testament Scriptures? How do you know either way if you aren’t diligently searching the Holy Scriptures daily? Acts 2:42-47 is a good place to begin.

Fellowship: Simply read Scripture together, taking turns reading out loud. Acts 2:42

One of the advantages of a home church is that the pastor is not being incentivized to lie to the people, to mislead them by withholding the hard truths, in order to garner and gather the money to pay the mortgage and his salary. Reminder: Jesus nor His holy apostles ever collected a penny to build a “church building” much less the money pit it becomes to maintain.

Simple Church Gatherings

The Fellowship of the Believers

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2:42-47

In this passage is captured the pristine state of the earliest followers of Christ. There were not yet any wolves who entered in to capitalize on the people. In verse 42 we see that the earliest disciples continued steadfastly in these 4 simple things:

“And they continued stedfastly in …

  • the apostles’ doctrine and
  • fellowship, and in
  • breaking of bread, and in
  • prayers

Their worship was pure and simple with Jesus as the object of worship.

HIS Church (people) is who we are, not somewhere we go! Now, as His people, we assemble. The earliest saints, followers of Jesus fellowshipped often, daily, not weekly (Acts 2:42-47).

All denominations are apostate and so are most local churches. They were never God’s plan. The early churches were small and autonomous, no head quarters which Satan inevitably gets control of.

Concerning true New Testament fellowship, as God has ordained, one believer writes:

“The ‘assembling of yourselves together’ is true believers who love the Lord fervently and who come together to each break off a little piece of THE bread of heaven. They look forward for these times together, because they know they are meeting with the love of their lives, the God of their salvation. They love one another fervently. Their place of gathering is a haven from the wicked world. Its a place to share encouragement, admonishment and burdens. Its a place of equipping for the next steps of their journey. It is a place where sincere love and truth fills the atmosphere, because it is a place filled with the sweet HOLY Spirit. Hearts are convicted and lives are changed and brought closer to the Father. For THAT is the work of the Holy Ghost.

When the unbelieving enter, they are overwhelmed by the sweet, yet deeply convicting presence of the Holy Ghost, for the disciples are filled with Him. Therefore, the results should be repentance. Sadly, this setting is not found in very many places today, due to a lack of commitment and devotion in the lives of professing Christians. Its time to enter again into the closets and plead for God to restore His church before the period of Grace comes to an end.”

Friend, if you are not building kingdom relationships, it seems apparent that you are not in His kingdom (John 13:35; Acts 2:42-47; Heb 3:13; 10:24-25; 1 John 3:14-15; 5:1, etc.).

Fellowship with His people and overcoming all sin is directly connected with Christ’s return. Watch this:

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.” Hebrews 3:12-14

There’s no doubt that in the heart of every true disciple of Jesus is the longing to participate in the pure fellowship with Christ AND HIS TRUE BODY WHERE HE alone is glorified and where His Word is being humbly learned together as His body. Absent from such true corporate worship (2 or more) are clergymen who steal the show, feigning to represent Jesus while stealing the glory and the money from Him!

The church Jesus told us He’s building is His people, not a physical building made by men (Matthew 16:18). Rather, His work is in the hearts of His true people – those who’ve humbled themselves before Him in true repentance and faith. They are born again, new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17-20).

“How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.” 1 Corinthians 14:26

Real New Testament fellowship greatly edifies Christ’s saints.

Video below: This is exactly what I’ve found to be the necessity for a house church foundation… Luke 10:6. – “And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again” (Luke 10:6). “the son of peace” – a person or persons who are truly grounded, settled, and not going anywhere or flighty, fickle. A house that’s in order due to it being the house of a mature disciple of Christ (at least one).

WHO stands to profit when they convince you that fellowshipping is limited to their “church” building business?

GOSPEL FLASH POINT: New Testament fellowship is communing with one or more other believers in God’s Word, prayer, fellowship, and a meal! See Acts 2:42. You’ve been lied to by those who profit off of your going to their “church services” at their “church building” business they opened and run. They “make merchandise of you” just as through the Holy Spirit through Peter warned us (2 Peter 2:1-3).

Fellowshipping with just one other believer, praying together, reading Scripture, eating, drinking coffee, etc., can be the richest fellowship (Acts 2:42). Unlike “church” productions, Jesus and His people are featured and not crowded out by the half-truths, fake “bibles,” entertainment, self-promotion, flesh, cross-less messages, and BUREAUCRACY!
