Rodney Howard-Browne Warning
Did you know that it is disobedience to believe everyone who comes in Christ’s name?
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try (test) the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” 1 John 4:1-3
Friends, we love Jesus Christ and His body. Get as mad as you wish when perhaps your favorite celebrity preacher is exposed and uncovered. With no desire to be divisive or controversial, we are going obey God by helping the truth and standing with the LORD Jesus Christ to bring to light the wolves who are operating using the name of the LORD in vain while devouring precious souls. It’s high time to cease being gullible and naive and begin to grow up spiritually and be exercised in the Word of God to discern truth from error.
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.” 2 Corinthians. 11:13
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 3-4
Just because you like a certain leader’s personality or he tells you things you like to hear, does not make him true to God. Be it known that endorsing in any way or bidding “God speed” to a false prophet makes one the enemy of Christ and brings the same judgment upon that supporter as the deceiver is going to receive (2 Pet. 2).
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” 2 John 9-11
This is no small matter friend. So, before you run to the aid of any leader, you had better make sure he or she is absolutely preaching nothing but God’s Word lest you offend the one, true, holy God.
You don’t honestly believe Satan is going to be anything by subtle do you? (Gen. 3:1)
“And we henceforth be no children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; …(Ephesians 4:14)
“Any of it [teaching] that is good is in the Word of God, and any that is not in the Word of God is not good. I am a Bible Christian and if an archangel with a wingspread as broad as a constellation shining like the sun were to come and offer me some new truth, I’d ask him for a reference. If he could not show me where it is found in the Bible, I would bow him out and say, ‘I’m awfully sorry, you don’t bring any references with you’” (Counterfeit Revival, p. 67).
“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven (not hell), preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9
When people do not individually get in the Word and therefore possess unspeakable joy in Jesus, they become prey to deceivers who promise entertainment, action, and experiences that are not reconcilable with New Testament Christianity (Jer. 15:16; 1 Pet. 1:8). Below is an example:
“I’d rather be in a church where the devil and the flesh are manifesting than in a church where nothing is happening because people are too afraid to manifest anything…and if the devil manifests, don’t worry about that, either. Rejoice, because at least something is happening.” The Coming Revival

Notice that in Rodney Howard-Browne’s statement above there is no mention of casting the devil out of the person who might manifest an unclean spirit (Matt. 8:16, 31-32; 9:33; 10:1, 8; 12:24-28; 17:19-21; Mk. 16:17, etc.). There seems to be no evidence in his ministry that devils are being cast out (Matt. 12:28; 17:21). Casting out devils is a New Testament practice. Jesus did it and commanded all who believe His Gospel to go forth and do the same. Christ came to destroy the works of Satan (Acts 10:38; 1 Jn. 3:8). Look up the word “cast” in the KJV Bible and study the dozen’s of references to casting out the devil and freeing people from his evil. Clowns like Browne do not negate Bible truth and the power of God’s Spirit, yet such must always be done in accordance to the written Word which the Holy Spirit gave us and will never contradict (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).
When they manifested, Jesus never let devils control His gatherings – He cast them out! But Rodney Howard-Browne and all leaders of the false revival (Brownsville/Toronto) do allow the enemy to rule (Mk. 5:8-13). Are they his agents?
“When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” Mark 9:25-27
Jesus told us it was by the power of the Holy Spirit that He cast out devils.
“But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.” Matthew 12:28

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38
Jesus had complete mastery over the devils. Be not deceived: Howard-Browne’s meetings are filled with manifestations of devils and wierd activities of people who become intoxicated under demonic spell. This believer was initially deceived in this movement so have extensively experienced the pandemonium that goes on in these meetings.
What goes on under the spirit-guidance of Howard-Browne is not reconcilable with what Jesus and His apostles did when devils manifested.
How did Phillip deal with the devil?
“For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.” Acts 8:7-8
We see that in Scripture demons manifested due to God’s power and were not allowed to function or disrupt but were rather cast out. In Howard-Browne’s meetings and those of other deluded leaders who follow this folly, laugher disrupts and prevents any preaching. As one studies and views video footage of these meetings this will be obvious. Perhaps some of the resources below will help in your personal investigation of this movement.
“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” Acts 16:16-18
