Returning to Christ as Our “First Love” [podcast]

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

The LORD is a “Jealous” God.

“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:” Exodus 34:14

If Jesus Christ is not genuinely the first love of our hearts, our lives, we are committing spiritual adultery on the Son of God.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

“Repentance is to TAKE SIDES with God against yourself. It is a CHANGE of attitude toward SELF, toward SIN, toward GOD, toward CHRIST that is so REAL that it RESULTS in a changed life. It is raising the WHITE FLAG in SURRENDER to God and turning to Christ as your only LORD and Savior. Repentance is NOT a work … works are the fruit of repentance (Ephesians 2:8-10).” Trent Austin

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matthew 24:10-14

“Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. 23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.” Acts 14:22-23

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” Revelation 19:7-9

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You afresh, right this instant, in the name of my LORD Jesus Christ. Please cleanse, prepare, purge, and purify my heart. Bless me to be truly poor in spirit as only You can do. Please use me to help others dear LORD Jesus. I love You Jesus. I love You Father. Please make me one with You and Your body and fill me with Your Holy Ghost afresh and use me. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
