Returning to Christ as Our “First Love” [podcast]

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

The LORD is a “Jealous” God.

“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:” Exodus 34:14

If Jesus Christ is not genuinely the first love of our hearts, our lives, we are committing spiritual adultery on the Son of God.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. ⁵ Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” Revelation 2:4-5

“Repentance is to TAKE SIDES with God against yourself. It is a CHANGE of attitude toward SELF, toward SIN, toward GOD, toward CHRIST that is so REAL that it RESULTS in a changed life. It is raising the WHITE FLAG in SURRENDER to God and turning to Christ as your only LORD and Savior. Repentance is NOT a work … works are the fruit of repentance (Ephesians 2:8-10).” Trent Austin

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come to You afresh, right this instant, in the name of my LORD Jesus Christ. Please cleanse, prepare, purge, and purify my heart. Bless me to be truly poor in spirit as only You can do. Please use me to help others dear LORD Jesus. I love You Jesus. I love You Father. Please make me one with You and Your body and fill me with Your Holy Ghost afresh and use me. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
