Practicals for Conforming Your Thinking to Christ

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…” Proverbs 23:7

What we choose to nurture as our thoughts reveals who we are.

“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.  22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:20-23

God is calling you to wash away the ungodly things in your thinking by applying the water of the Word which washes (Ephesians 5:26).

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:6-11

Practical application of Romans 12:1-2 and Ephesians 5:26 would include:

1. Putting God first – praising Him, communion in prayer, searching His Word.

2. Fast all un-godly input or anything that is not feeding your spirit with divine truth.

3. Get hold of good preaching and pure worship and praise products.

4. Put another King James Bible in your car to read at intervals of blessedness during the day (I love pulling over when I have a few minute window and getting more of God’s precious Precepts in to my mind and hear. It’s truly a pause that refreshes).

5. Get rid of “friends” who are not seeking God, are not truth-seekers, and do not have their affections set upon Jesus – “Evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1 Corinthians 15:33) Get some God-fearing truly born again friends!

6. Memorize Holy Scripture (KJV). Nothing could be more important to your life with Jesus. “Let thine heart RETAIN my words.” (Proverbs 4:4) Write Scripture on index cards, carry around, memorize, and meditate upon them.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove (demonstrate) what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

Your life will never be right with God as long as you have close communion or ties with souls who refuse to repent and obey God. Someone has wisely stated: “Look at a man’s friends and you will clearly see what kind of man he is.”
