“Your Account”
WHAT’S IN your “account”? Do you know you have an “account” and a balance in that “account”?
Did you know that God’s Word says that you have an “account” in Heaven? Isn’t that where Jesus instructed us to “lay up treasure”? (Matthew 6:19-21) How full, or empty, is “your account” in Heaven?
“Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” Philippians 4:17 … All true disciples of Christ are to provoke other believers to good works which will lay up treasure in Heaven and cause the believer’s “account” in eternal glory overflow with blessings!
Does God’s Word tell us we have an “account” in Heaven? Yes. That’s exactly “where” Jesus told us to “lay up treasure.” (Matt. 6:19-24) – “YOUR ACCOUNT” - “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” Philippians 4:17
Also, this is about giving as unto the LORD, not to false prosperity preachers. BUT we are to “give” as we follow Christ who gave all. In fact, He said “It is MORE blessed to GIVE than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
Many pervert God’s Word to get gain. These are the “false teachers” and “false prophets” Peter warned us about who would “make merchandise” of people (2 Peter 2:1-3). YET, the Bible still says what it says. “Forget not all his benefits.” (Psalms 103:2)
DID Jesus instruct us to lay up treasure? Or not? IF He did, then there must be an “account”? Where did Christ tell us to “lay up … treasure”? – “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
“As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD,” and that means we give to His people in need and to His work and to no other causes not directly impacting precious souls with His blessed Word (Joshua 24:15).
It’s truly amazing to see how quick people are to get out their debit card or check book for causes infinitely inferior to that of the furtherance of the eternal Gospel of Jesus. There’s truly no greater opportunity on the face of the earth than that divine gift of being able to give into the LORD’s work! And, on top of the present joy of participating in the care of eternal souls, the LORD promised to reward us eternally for doing such! (Proverbs 3:9-10; 2 Corinthian 9:6-11, etc.)

All of the prosperity teachers that I’ve ever listened to (and that’s saying a mouthful) taught that we should get it in “the here and now, not the by and by”. I heard Benny Hinn say that he wanted his gold “now” and not in Heaven, for example. I take it that Todd is teaching the exact opposite of the prosperity teachers. He’s saying we should store up our treasures in Heaven. Did you listen to Todd’s teaching? I would encourage you to take 20 minutes and listen to it before making a judgment. I found it very edifying. We should give as God has prospered us but give to the Lord’s true workers and true ministries. I can only say, “Amen.” Greg Miller
