Flood of Noah is a Type of Baptism. 1 Pet 3:18-22
“Baptism” means “overwhelmed with calamity.” Satan is always the active agent in every calamity, each type of baptism, whether in fire as in Dan 3 or in water as in Gen 6-8 and Exodus 14.
The word “baptism” is also symbolic of our participation with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. See Rom 6:3-5. Satan kills and God raises the dead. God never kills and Satan can’t raise the dead.
In Gen 6:3, we see that God is striving to RESTRAIN the evil of mankind on earth.
Noah, his family and his creatures entered the ark thru a door in its side. The ark had three levels symbolizing tripartite man as the incarnate Christ. As Christians, we enter Christ thru the wound in His side, in His death. It is thru our death with Christ, the sharing of His sacred wounds, that we come to be in Him. Rom 6:3-5
In Gen 7:11, God STOPS RESTRAINING Satan. The heavenly and earthly flood gates are opened for Satan’s chaotic waters to be released and rush forth with destruction. Satan is always the one who has the power of death (Heb 2:14) and who steals, kills and destroys. John 10:10. Death is the enemy of God. 1 Cor 15:26. God allows death and takes the blame for it and also lets the Bible record, “I (The Lord) will destroy man . . .” Gen 6:7.
The flood destroys “the mighty men” who are the offspring of evil angels but raises, lifts up and saves the people and animals who entered the ark and takes them to the top of Mt Ararat. The cross destroys unbelieving mighty men as did the fiery furnace destroy “the mighty men” in Daniel 3:22. The cross and resurrection save and lift believers to the top of heaven and seats them there with Christ in heavenly places. Eph 2:6.
God STARTS AGAIN TO RESTRAIN Satan and his flood in Gen 8:2.
The ark rests on Ararat just as the believer finds rest thru his death with Christ. Resurrection rest means we no longer have to furnish the power to please God or get thru life. God furnishes the power while we rest!
The earth, thru this baptism in the flood waters of Genesis, has been purified and can now again be replenished just as it was in the beginning. See Gen 1 and 2. This is another example of the aikido-like self-destruction of evil. Satan’s flood destroyed Satan’s people and the people of God were saved, purified and raised up by it.
He who letteth (RESTRAINS) will let (RESTRAIN) until He be taken out of the way. 2 Thes 2:6-8. This is the principle of the cross and redemptive withdrawal all thru the Bible.
God’s judgments are always done in this way thru the principle of the cross. His wrath and anger is to let the angry ones, Satan and his minions, destroy evil and themselves! Satan casts out Satan. His house is thereby divided and so must fall. Mark 3.
This revelation of the flood comes from reading the Bible thru the lens of the cross-understanding. God does not kill or destroy. Satan steals, kills and destroys. God does allow Satan to do it but always with a redemptive and good purpose! God is good, not just sometime, but ALL the time!
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. Rev 12:15-16.
Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear this truth, the God did not cause the flood of Noah but Satan did? It cannot be perceived thru human logic or intellect. God is love. His only way of killing and destroying is thru the principle of the cross and redemptive withdrawal.
