Is there a fight to fight, a course to finish, and a faith to keep? Nearing the end of his life on earth, the apostle Paul writes:
FFK = Kingdom prescription for eternal success – IF it’s adhered to. FFK = Fight, Finish, Keep … Fight, Finish, and Keep
“Press Toward the Mark”
There’s a reason that God put these and other verses (below) in His Word for us: He knew that thinking about our past – good and bad – is common to every true believer…. We regret sinful omissions and commissions, right? But Christ died to cleanse our conscience from all sin in our past that is confessed (1 John 1:9b and Hebrews 9:14).
How could the LORD’s apostle Paul be so confident, so secure in his spiritual state and readiness to meet Christ? Nearing the end of his time on earth, Paul says:
“I have …
fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith:”
2 Timothy 4:7
Paul was abiding in Christ, his “first love.” (Revelation 2:4-5) He refused to have any other false gods before Jesus Christ (Exodus 20:3; 1 John 5:20-21, etc.). He was fighting the good fight, finishing what God called him to do, and keeping the faith of Christ! This all involved his will, delighting in Christ, and remaining obedient to Him (Isaiah 1:18-20).
Jesus tells His own that they/we must “endure to the end” to be saved (Matthew 10:22; 24:13). Enduring to the end would include dying to our past – forgetting the things that are behind us and reaching forth, pressing toward the mark of knowing Christ, deeper and deeper.
We are keeping our dukes up, swinging – fighting the good fight of faith – and by His grace and blood, we win! (1 Timothy 6:12; Revelation 12:11)
The LORD’s apostle Paul also wrote:
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 (great passage to memorize – today)
God forgives and forgets the previous history (past) of His saints who confess all sin, continually returning to the LORD, rendering full repentance (Psalms 86:5, 15; 103:10-12, etc.). It’s Satan and his human agents who dredge up our forgiven past – and never God! See Revelation 12:10-12.
YOUR past is your past and the LORD has instructed you to FORGET IT – NOW! You’ve confessed your sins and are now clean and divinely absolved by the very blood of Christ from it! It’s over! Now please bury it by going into prayer joyfully and reciting the words of Philippians 3:13-14. You are going to sense a true spiritual release and liberty!
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Here’s your vision beloved! You are forgiven and free!
CONCERNING the good AND/OR the bad of your past (even if it were last night or yesterday)! This truth speaks to the whole history of everything that is now BEHIND YOU!
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses (all who were weak and strong in their earthly life), let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
There’s good and bad in our past. Jesus warns:
“Remember Lot’s wife.” Luke 17:32
“No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62
If you are not fighting the good fight of faith to abide in Christ daily, you have already quit, lost out, and are backslidden:
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
“Each of us has but one life. Blessed is the man who like Paul, can say at the end of it, that he has finished his God-appointed task .” Eliset Igat
Hold on to Christ? Yes!
“Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck (ruin).” 1 Timothy 1:19
If ruining – making “shipWRECK” – of your faith, were not possible, why would Christ’s apostle here have stated such? Salvation is conditional! God requires that your “FINISH” the race, the “course”! (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; 2 Timothy 4:7; Revelation 2-3, etc.).
False teachers today would have you believe you have no further personal responsibility to remain or “abide” Christ to be with Him eternally! Beware! (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; 25:1-13; John 15:1-6; 2 Peter 2:20-21, etc.)
“From my understanding…and as someone who backslid for many years, it is us that is the cause for falling away, not God. God doesn’t change, we sometimes get pulled away or we pay no attention to God. I am not even sure exactly why God pulled me back, but wow am I glad!! I sure don’t deserve it!! Christ Jesus tells us over and over to hold on and persevere. The great falling away is a falling away of believers. Non-believers can’t fall away if they were never there to fall away in the first part. Sooo…hang tight with both hands…stay close to God and He will stay close to you. (James 4:8)”
When Jesus died on the cross, was His apostle Paul’s work and personal responsibility finished OR was Jesus perfect sacrificial death finished? As he was abiding and continuing in Christ during his earthly life after being saved, the great apostle said:
We often hear people say things like “Oh yeah, Mary is saved but she’s not serving Jesus at this time.” Absolute nonsense. Any person who was once saved in the past and yet today is not serving Jesus, is apostate – a lost soul. The LORD guarantees they will not only spend eternity in hell but also that it will be worse torment for them due to turning from Christ after knowing Him (2 Peter 2:20-21).
Those who don’t truly love Christ but rather in reality worship the false god of self, love ease. But the Bible says:
“Woe to them that are at ease in Zion.” Amos 6:1
Many today vainly believe they are going to use Jesus to get themselves out of hell. They are so blinded in the darkness of their sin that they can’t see that the LORD sees every motive and intention of their wicked, un-repentant hearts. Hell awaits.
“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” Titus 1:16
The great apostle was ready to meet Christ. He abode intimate and obedient in Jesus from the moment he was saved till the moment he departed to be with Christ in glory. Due to his abiding relationship with the LORD Paul had full confidence in the thought of his earthly death.
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8
FFK = Fought, Finished, Kept
How to know someone is in Christ and therefore Heaven Bound
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” 1 John 2:3-4
It’s time to immediately repent and cease regurgitating lies against the LORD.
Only those who after Christ saves them continue or endure to the end abiding in Christ, will be saved into eternal glory (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; John 15:6; Colossians 1:23; Hebrews 3:6, 12-14; 10:26-39; 2 Peter 2:20-21; Revelation 2-3, etc.). All who backslide will die in sin and be eternally damned (Ezekiel 33:12-13; Revelation 21:8, 27; 22:14, etc.).
The “MANY false prophets” who Jesus warned are deceiving “many” are seminarian frauds who teach their little eternal security, once saved always saved, and calvinistic heresies. AND we wonder why the professing church is lukewarm, at ease in Zion, apostate, fallen away, and going to hell? MOUNTAINS of Holy Scripture must be ignored, denied, and avoided to perpetrate the un-conditional eternal security heresy! It’s a denial of Christ who taught that after believing and being saved, one could “fall away” and taught that those whom He saves must “abide” (remain) in Him – endure to the end – or be cast into the fire (Matthew 10:22; 24:13; Luke 8:13; John 15:6). Nothing could be more clear in God’s Word.
“These folks don’t do any independent scripture research…to their peril. ‘Christ is become of no effect to you, whoever of you are justified by the law; you are fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4’ From in Gal.5:4 is the Greek verb ekpíptō, which literally means ‘fallen from salvation.’ YOU are responsible for discerning the word of GOD! Please stop listening to damnable lies!”
Valencia Hargrave writes:
“Sometimes we waste our time with people who just don’t want to accept the truth . He or anyone else that believes OSAS are preaching false Doctrine and we as Believers are not to be unequally yoked with those who don’t believe right, it’s like joining hands with those who say there many paths to God. It’s no time to be confrontational in the Word especially in these last days it’s time to be dedicated.”
