God did not give Conway Edwards and his staff the right to spend His people’s money to build their own kingdom across DFW.
UPDATE: “I would just like to say thank you for the work that you do with being a watch dog for the local church. It is needed. I am formerly a volunteer and was a member at One Community Church in Plano, TX. Everything that your article on Conway Edwards stated was true. The church has a beautiful face but an ugly hard reality and they work at a pace that is destructive. The church is 7,000 members and is only run by Conway. He says that there are elders in place but that is merely a front. This is extremely dangerous being that the only filter at times for big decisions is Conway himself, who is driven primarily by church growth ($). Volunteers and staff get burned out on a regular basis all in the name of pleasing Conway. Family’s are suffering because many of the people who serve neglect their own homes for the church. He is ruthless and relentless at achieving his goals and Church growth and often runs over people to get them. This is the system that he created and this is the system that appears will always be in place for good. I do not feel that pastor Conway cares about these people, but he is merely using them to build his own empire. Whatever you can do, please get the word out about this destructive place. My family had to leave. It was simply too unhealthy and our relationship with God was actually suffering as a result of this church. Please continue to spread the word and know that I would like to keep my story anonymous.”
Recently I visited OCC (One Community Church) and was concerned about pastor Conway Edwards boasting that they had no debt and had $4 million dollars in the bank. It was obvious that he has his congregation (prey) well trained because they cheered when he informed them that there was lots of money just sitting in the bank – ready to be used to build Conway Edwards’ dreams and vision, not God’s.
Jesus came to the earth and emptied Himself and even specifically condemned hoarding and building more and bigger barns for stuff (Luke 12:15-21).
Let it be noted …. that this disciple consulted with two elders in the body of Christ before putting out this post to warn others of this thievery. Both those elders agreed that what was transpiring at OCC is fraud.
The following radio program directly deals with Conway Edwards boasting of having $4 million in the bank:
When visiting OCC a few years ago, it was obvious that kingdom building was well underway. There were many people wearing t-shirts promoting OCC – not Jesus or His kingdom but rather OCC.
The beggar who sat right under the nose of the “certain rich man” in Luke 16:19-31 received nothing from that once rich man who is now and will forever be burning in hell and the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). There are many right under Conway Edwards’ nose who have needs and yet they will receive no help from him because he’s going to use God’s money to build his own kingdom while using the name of the LORD in vain to say God is leading him.
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” 1 John 3:16-17
There are many, many ministries that go unfunded and yet unless he truly repents, Conway Edwards is going to continue to ignore those called out kingdom men and God’s call on their lives. Conway, like all other beguilers, believes his own ministry is more important than that of others. He’s too blinded by his own self-serving greed to see and so he will continue to forge ahead in his rebellion and build his own temporal empire in this fleeting world while misleading others in this same rebellion.
The LORD is seeking to rebuke Conway Edwards before it’s too late. Regrettably, to date, pastor or self-proclaimed “doctor” Conway Edwards has not been willing to be accountable concerning his dealings which raises the concern that he has something to hide. Let’s pray for Conway to repent. Jesus says:
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Revelation 3:19
Conway Edwards is using the LORD’s money – that which he received by the giving of God’s people – to build his own empire in this fleeting world. Does this model line up with Jesus and His holy apostles? No. Does Conway Edwards’ self-seeking enterprise align with the greed driven wolves we were told would lead “many” astray in the last days? Yes.
“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” 2 Peter 2:1-3
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:15-16
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” Matthew 24:11
As you will see, Conway Edwards is unaccountable and refuses to be addressed concerning his misuse of God’s resources. Before we look at the actual communication between this disciple and Conway, let’s take a peek at how the resources were distributed in the early church which is our model to follow:
“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Acts 2:44-45
“And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.” Acts 4:32-35
Remember saints, not one penny was collected by Jesus or His holy apostles to build even one church building, much less to proliferate several.
The church building in Allen/Plano that OCC (One Community Church) has is not even being used most of the week. Think about that. Conway’s vision is to keep building physical buildings instead of obeying the divine pattern/model given us of the earliest followers of Christ. Conway’s vision contradicts clearly revealed truth and therefore is a vain imagination of his own deceived, unrepentant heart.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1
Conway Edwards has his congregation convinced that his vision is God’s and they have bought this lie because they are biblically ignorant (Hosea 4:6; Matthew 22:29).
“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:17-18
Rebellious deceivers simply do not want to be surrounded with genuine disciples who are Berean believers because they want no part of personal accountability. So, they surround themselves with “Yes men” who simply go along with their self-serving schemes.
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11
MY FIRST EMAIL TO CONWAY:
Pastor Conway: God is calling you to live the message of the cross. When you do, you will cease with the bldg program and begin building His body. Read Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-35 …. There are many called to ministry who are unfunded and many saints in need and you are bragging about having $4 million in the bank and are raising millions more. There were NO needs among the saints of the early church.
RESPONSE FROM CONWAY’S SECRETARY:
“Please forgive me. I would love to speak to you about this personally.”
(His secretary called me and asked what my concern was. I expounded on the email message above. When asked, she made it clear that the pastor would not be calling me back. In other words, he’s too important to call someone back even though he is posing as a servant of Christ who came to give His very life for all men.
MY SECOND EMAIL TO CONWAY’S SECRETARY 5 DAYS LATER:
Apparently, Conway doesn’t intend to call me back. There is no other option than to consider that he is not accountable to an elder in the body of Christ who has questions and therefore it is assumed that Conway is hiding something and is unaccountable.
He is misusing and misappropriating the LORD’s and His body’s resources.
Those resources have been given to feed the poor and so that no member of the body of Christ has any needs – which is on record as the New Testament model (Acts 2:44-45; 4:32; 1 Cor. 16:1-2, etc.). Those finances are not for Conway’s personal aspirations to build his own kingdom across DFW by expanding his own name and real estate portfolio in the name of reaching more people. That wealth came from God’s people, earmarked to be used for God’s glory and not squandered by a man who is building his own kingdom in this fleeting world.
“And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” 1 Timothy 6
There was never a dime collected in the early church to build a church building. Jesus sent His people forth to build His kingdom in the hearts of men (Matthew 16:18).
This is my second simple request. No one will beg Conway to meet and to be accountable. Yet, if he refuses, it will be assumed that he is unaccountable and to be publicly exposed for defrauding the LORD and His people.
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:12-13
This second email message to Conway and OCC has gone unanswered to date. Regrettably and yet typically, runaway ministries/ministers who are doing their own thing, are arrogant and unteachable, unaccountable to His Word and in rebellion.
It is our desire to help Conway and welcome his contacting us. The LORD rebukes those whom He loves and we all need it at times (Revelation 3:19; Hebrews 12:1-6, etc.).
