Right in your face: They didn’t call it Celebrate Jesus! No, they called it Celebrate Recovery (CR)! There it is!
Any honest reader of Scripture can see that JESUS alone sets people free and not programs (John 8:31-32, 36). Jesus invites men to come to HIM to be made whole – not some money making scam of a program (Matthew 11:28-30). Never mind the human reasoning and “but, but, but”…. we must die that Christ might reign (Luke 9:23-24). That’s what Jesus taught and ANY variance is a doctrine of devils and those who teach it are “accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9). You will NEVER hear repentance taught in anything produced by this diabolical warlock named Rick Warren (2 Corinthians 11:12-15).
Personally, I’ve never met one of the CR students who truly and simply loves Jesus. It’s a program of mere sinful men and the goal of it is not to know Jesus as is the Gospel aim and goal (Psalms 27:4, 8; John 17:3; Philippians 3:10).
Sheila Luker writes:
“Every one I know who celebrates recovery without Christ are still addicted. The are in this CR (Celebrate Recovery) program but are not growing to know and love Christ. I just confronted someone recently after my daughter helped her by putting her in a treatment facility. She took in her 2 year old while she was in treatment for 2 years. She got out and stayed with my daughter for several months until she could get on her feet. Come to find out she went to one of the legalized drug facilities and got on Methadone and is now back on street drugs. My daughter made her leave but she didn’t take her 4 year old son. She continues to ask for prayer but makes no effort to repent and bring forth fruit to demonstrate true repentance (Matt. 3:7-10). She says she’s saved but yet her lifestyle hasn’t changed. Jesus Christ, when He delivers you, you are truly delivered, saved. Watch out for the counterfeits and manipulators. Those who are deceived believe they can stay in sin and still be saved. That’s the message many are preaching by telling them God loves you just the way you are. He may still love you but HE said HE wouldn’t strive with us always and that the wages of sin is death.”
IF YOU are a part of a local church that has brought in false teachers and their heretical teachings, such as Celebrate Recovery (CR), you have been led to worship at the altar of self instead of the Savior and are part of the Christ-denying great falling away and are in need of repenting before it’s too late (2 Timothy 3:1-4:4, etc.).
HOW MANY times does the word “addict” appear in God’s Word? 0! The word “addicted” appears once and is speaking of those who love Jesus being addicted to His work – serving Him and others. Any minister or ministry talking about addictions instead of calling it sin and calling all men to repent, is 100% false without exception. If you have followed and supported such enemies of Christ, you yourself are in need of repenting.
“Many Christians today are more addicted to sin than being addicted to Jesus. Love of self is the number one cause of their addiction.” Rich Brown
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:2-4
Instead of simply and obediently preaching God’s pure Word, wolves offer their prey the opportunity of being coddled in their sin. That was never the way of Christ and His apostles and the earliest believers.
DID JESUS or His holy apostles EVER call anyone an “addict” concerning sin? Yes or no?
DO YOU BLAME YOUR SIN ON SUPPOSEDLY HAVING AN “ADDICTION”? If so, it’s only because you have refused to repent. The LORD sees straight through this deceit and will reward accordingly (Galatians 6:7-8).
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” 2 Corinthians 5:17-18
Jesus came to make sinners free and requires that they repent and believe upon Him as LORD of their life in order to do so. He calls no one an “addict” because that word means someone can never be set free.
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18
So, Jesus came to heal, to make whole, and to set free sinners but somehow now He who is “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” can no longer heal? People now need this ridiculously false program?
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
If this weren’t so heretical, it’d be hilarious.
God hasn’t changed. He requires full repentance, faith, and surrender.
“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” Isaiah 59:1-2
Addicted to Who/What?
Celebrate Recovery is a doctrine of devils – a devilish system that denies Christ’s words of promise to completely deliver anyone who truly comes to Him on His terms – in surrender, repentance, and faith!
SATAN is in our midst! Saints, we need to come unglued on this evil epidemic, these lies against our LORD Jesus by Satan and his human agents (2 Corinthians 11:12-15; 1 Timothy 4:1-3).
The Bible only uses the word “addiction” one time and in the context sanctions being addicted to Jesus and serving His people instead of sin. Repentance is where the severance begins, never before:
“I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)” 1 Corinthians 16:15
Jesus came to make men free from sin to serve Him (John 1:29; 8:31-32, 36; Colossians 1:12-14, etc.). Rick Warren and all who offer this counterfeit program are putting a wall between their prey and Christ, who alone can make men free – if they will obey His simple command to truly repent.
Jesus’ prescription for sin is to repent, deny self, take up the cross, and follow Jesus (Matthew 3:2; 4:17; 16:24-25; Luke 9:23-24, etc.).
As is the case in Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life book, repentance, a Gospel essential, is never mentioned. This alone reveals that Warren is a false teacher.
It’s Satan and his human agents who are addicted to addiction. Addiction in their definition means return customer$.
Satan’s perversion of the original Gospel of Jesus includes psychologizing sin! Example: What is an “addict”? An addict is someone who is addicted to anything other than Jesus and is an unrepentant sinner who needs to obey Christ and repent! Yet, the apostate modern church has created and multiplied programs which simply perpetuate the wickedness of vile sinners who claim to be Christians – never once calling them to repent!
“They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly (superficially), saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.” Jeremiah 6:14
The prophet Jeremiah cited the false prophets for ban aiding sin instead of calling people to repentance.
“For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. 22 Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” Jeremiah 8:21-22
The answer to this rhetorical question as to why the LORD’s people weren’t healed and made whole is that they allowed “accursed” false leaders to preach “another gospel” which is a false gospel (Galatians 1:6-9).
Ever notice from listening to testimonies of CR victims that the whole goal is not to know Christ but rather to be “clean” as if to reduce the gospel to being supposedly sinless – without Jesus? Yet the violation of the very first commandment is having other gods before you and so they are in the sin of idolatry for elevating the idea of being “clean” above the Person of Jesus Christ (Exodus 20:3-4). They boast of how long they’ve been “clean” as if that saves them instead of Christ. Works salvation! There is no elevation of Jesus Christ in this program. The spirit of antichrist is behind it and denies Christ! (1 John 4:1-3)
Rick Warren certainly isn’t steeping anyone in Christ. He’s an antichrist and so that would be impossible. It would also be impossible for him to root people into a Savior whom he himself doesn’t serve.
CELEBRATE RECOVERY: CHECK THE SOURCE – A Tree and Its Fruit
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Matthew 7:15-20
Satan’s counterfeits and heretical, half-truth programs are plentiful today. His human agents will do ANYTHING except truly repent, lay down their lives, take up the cross, and live a crucified life. Anything!
Born again believers are told to become “Rooted and built up” and established in CHRIST!
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:” Colossians 2:6-10
Is Jesus being magnified, worshipped, and elevated through this program that doesn’t follow His Word? No.
“Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 And not holding the Head (Jesus), from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.” Colossians 2:18-19
I challenge you to find a CR victim who is a soul winning disciple of Jesus. There are none and what’s that tell us?
“Thank you Todd Tomasella, especially when they stand and say I am an addict. There is power in words and to say one is still an addict denies the power of Christ.” Vanita Ragbir
“Aren’t you nit picking? When you say that it’s called celebrate recovery instead of celebrate Jesus, are you not nit picking?”
REPLY: Given by Karen Graves
It is far from nit-picking. For many it is life and death ! Any recovery program that says drug addiction is a disease (which Celebrate Recovery does) is a lie. Instead, it is a sin problem and Jesus died on the Cross to destroy “all the power of sin.” He has made a way for us on the Cross to be free from the sins we are bound by. The bible says in Prov 4:22 that the Word of God is ” life to those that find them and health to all their body.” It also says in John 15:7 “if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” It is by abiding in and obeying His Word that we can be set free from our sins that in many instances, once we have repeated them over and over, have become “strongholds’ or addictions. They finally get such a strong hold on us that it now takes more than any will power we could ever conjure up to get free. It now takes the Lord to help us get free. I know because Jesus set me free just this way from 15 years of drug addiction, alcoholism,(which is a drug) and bulimia. If I believed they were diseases like Celebrate Recovery teaches, rather than sin, I might never have been delivered because saying they are a “disease” puts a huge question mark in our minds. Will He really deliver me of this “disease?”( in spite of the fact that we know he went about healing all manner of diseases, most people question if He will heal them. Many wonder because people die from diseases all the time. Additionally, many easily make excuses or feel sorry for themselves, thinking they have been dealt a bad hand and never find freedom. However, It is much easier to get free when it is called what it is, “SIN”! When it is called “sin” 1) there is little question that Jesus wants to free us from” sin.” and 2) now it is obvious we are going to have to take responsibility for our sin if we are going to be delivered rather than blaming it on our genes or some other excuse. These things that medicine and science are calling diseases now are really what God has always called “sin”. They are sins that have been repeated so many times they finally have become strongholds and Jesus wants to and can deliver anyone who will repent, seek Him for deliverance, believe He will deliver them, hide His Words in their heart, and obey those Words. If you read Galatians 5:17, many of the works of the flesh are listed, such as drunkeness, adultery, fornication, witchcraft, strife etc, followed by the Word that “they which do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Nowhere do you see one disease listed because God will not send anyone to hell for a “disease, ” but He will for a sin, He will for drunkeness. It is the truth that sets us free! Jesus is a gentleman. He is waiting for us to ask for His help and He will show us the way, the Truth, through His Word. It is “work.” but it is worth it!
